Our conservation team undertook a survey of a stone-built cottage located within the Lake District National Park. Remedial repairs were specified to stabilise the existing structure and facilitate internal alterations and a proposed gable extension.
A series of steel roof trusses were designed to support the traditional slate roof and open up the habitable area within the building.
We also designed a galvanised steel gable frame to provide open views to the Borrowdale Valley. The gable extension was clad in local stone and slate, to allow it to blend with existing building and neighbouring properties
