Conversion and vertical extension of an office building in the Grosvenor Gardens Conservation Area

This project involved the refurbishment of a terrace of six properties originally constructed c.1908 with the ground floor used for retail and the upper floors converted from offices to residential.  23 intermediate rental apartments were created across the four residential floors.

The additional load capacity from the change of use enabled a vertical extension of an additional storey, without the need for foundation strengthening.

The shop fronts were replaced and remedial works carried out on the external façade.  We also reconstructed the rear service courtyard and boundary wall adjoining the famous Goring Hotel in Belgravia.
