We were appointed to help with the redevelopment of 6 Middle Street into a modern office space that incorporates sustainable design elements.
The refurbishment of the building included the deconstruction of the existing roof structure and replacing it with a feature glazed roof, creation of a mezzanine floor and installation of a cantilevered staircase. The changes to these structural elements opened up the space to create free-flowing daylight from the rooftop extension down to the basement level. The challenge was delivering a design that upgraded the existing building whilst minimising disruption to the neighbouring residents and businesses which includes the Smithfields Conservation Area.
The building was completed in late 2020.
In 2022, this project was nominated for and won an OAS Development award for Best Delivered Scheme City Under 35,000 sq. ft.
