The UK currently has the largest number of Data Centres in Western Europe. MNP have been involved with, and are working on, numerous Data Centres throughout the UK and Europe.
Expansion: structural engineering support for the upgrading of existing Data Centres – new plant for greater efficiency, and supporting additional data capacity needs through expanded generators and cooling plants. Cardiff and Aston Universities are examples of where we have assessed the existing structure to accommodate the weight of new chillers.
New Build: state-of-the-art facilities, with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. Take a look at the new MCR2 Data Centre here.
Pre-purchase due diligence: we have undertaken a number of pre-purchase surveys and feasibility studies for clients acquiring buildings and looking to add value by increasing capacity, both in existing Data Centres and by incorporating data halls into existing buildings.
Supporting scheme development up to planning: includes SuDs and Flood Risk Assessments, and structural designs to support planning.
In September 2024, the Government announced that UK Data Centres are now classed as “Critical National Infrastructure“; a reflection of their significance within our society and digital world.
